New walls start going up on this addition to an existing home. The room will be a two story greatroom with many architectural design touches per our design.
The front wall of the addition stands nearly 24 feet high, and will contain a significant amount of glass. The room will feel very large and well lit.
A laminated beam is fabricated on site to allow no load bearing wall in our design. This will let us build a greatroom with an adjacent office / library without walls between.
Greatroom in the foreground, library in the background.
The ridgepole is set and the rafters are next. This old house is getting some new syle and space.
Rafters anre laid and the new door opening and side lite are framed in. We will select a door set that matches the period look of the property. We want the addition to look like it's always been there.
We love heights.....well, some of us anyways.
The addition from the rear. The portion under the shallow pitch is the office area. the greatroom is under the high peak
The roof sheathing is in place and the rear wall os framed to accept all of our glass. A palladian window will be our focal point on the wall.
